Fostering the Future is a revolutionary commitment to enhance supports for those leaving foster care, strengthen families, and improve outcomes for children and youth across the United States. It does this by focusing on what young people need: a safe place to live, an education, a job, and a reliable place to find resources when they’re needed.
Led by the First Lady of the United States in partnership with Federal agencies and state child-welfare offices, this Executive Order brings government, nonprofits, schools, and businesses together to make it happen.

The Executive Order called on the Federal Government and the private sector to provide more pathways to success for young people who have experienced foster care, including the creation of an online resource and planning hub. The Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Children and Families (ACF) worked closely with the Office of the First Lady to answer this call to connect young people transitioning from foster care to the resources they need most and a custom plan to move forward.
Smarter technology, easier access. Resources exist, but they can be difficult to find and navigate, and it's not always clear who qualifies for what. We're using technology to bridge that gap, turning a scattered system into a clear path forward.
